Deputy Police Chief Jeoffrey James<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Deputy Police Chief Jeoffrey James said the police will have a “zero tolerance” for anyone who violates the order during Carnival.<\/p>\n

He was speaking during the \u2018Disaster and You\u2019 program aired on State-Owned Radio DBS earlier this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Carnival route, particularly in Roseau, is stipulated by the SRO [Statutory Rules And Regulation] which is made by the Minister. And it is definitely an offense to find yourself in the Carnival route cycling or riding or motoring, in terms of motor vehicles on the Carnival route,\u201d he warned. \u201cThat\u2019s an offense, it won\u2019t be tolerated, so therefore, you ought not to be on the route\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cYou will be dealt with according to law if you violate or infringe on the Carnival route.\u201d<\/p>\n

James warned that, having published the route, the police expect members of the public to govern themselves accordingly.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can you find yourself on a vehicle driving the route of the Carnival? It is a danger to revelers, it is a danger to yourself too and fundamentally that will not be tolerated,\u201d James remarked. \u201cThe police will have a zero tolerance to anybody who violates the order\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, James warned that no criminal activities will be tolerated during the Carnival.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo fireworks, no weapons will be permitted, disorderly conduct, these kinds of offenses,\u201d he warned. \u201cNo criminal activity will be tolerated during the Carnival, and people who [violate] the Carnival order will be swiftly arrested and taken before a magistrate’s court subsequently to be dealt with \u00a0according to law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, James stated that the Carnival route is expected to remain the same this\u00a0year, \u201cwith maybe a little tweak.\u201d<\/p>\n
