Over 300 key figures in Caribbean education, including Ministers of Education from various nations, will convene in Jamaica this March to explore innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment in the digital era.<\/p>\n

This significant regional gathering is a collaborative effort between the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC\u00ae) and Jamaica\u2019s Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information.<\/p>\n

The conference and ministerial forum are scheduled to take place from March 16 to 19 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, shared a media release from the Council.<\/p>\n

Originally planned for October 2025 on Jamaica\u2019s northern coast, both events reportedly faced postponement due to the impact of Hurricane Melissa. Dr. Nicole Manning, CXC\u2019s Director of Operations, expressed appreciation for the continued enthusiasm surrounding the conference. She emphasized that the event aims to strengthen regional cooperation on navigating the digital landscape to enhance educational outcomes across the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

\u201cCXC\u00ae is facilitating this meeting of the finest minds in Caribbean education at a time when the region is seeking to scale efforts to equip in-school learners with electronic devices, adapt to generative Artificial Intelligence, and
\nembrace electronic-assessment and teaching via online modalities,”\u00a0 Dr. Manning stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dr. Eduardo Ali, Pro-Registrar and Deputy CEO of CXC\u00ae, who is leading the organization of the Ministerial Forum, highlighted ongoing collaborations with regional employers to address future skills and workforce needs through CXC\u2019s Skills and Employability Signaling System for CXC\u00ae Qualifications Development.<\/p>\n

CXC\u00ae is set to formalize this partnership through a groundbreaking Partnership Engagement Agreement (PEA) with the Caribbean employer coalition during the forum.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs global education systems become more open and interconnected, it\u2019s vital that we include insights from our employer stakeholders to implement an integrated approach to teaching and assessment in our digital environment,\u201d noted Dr. Ali.<\/p>\n

The inaugural CXC\u00ae Regional Education Conference and Ministerial Forum has received endorsement from Senator Dr. The Honourable Dana Morris Dixon, Jamaica\u2019s Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information. She will deliver a keynote address during the four-day event.<\/p>\n

\u201cJamaica welcomes this timely conference by CXC\u00ae with our fellow educators from across the region. The goals of this regional meeting are in alignment with Jamaica\u2019s TREND education strategy, where the use of ICTs within the education system is a key pillar to achieve our national goals for world class education and training, and a technology enabled society\u201d, \u00a0the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Distinguished speakers and presenters at the conference include Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Chair of CXC\u00ae and Deputy Chair of the Council; Dr. Marcia Potter; Dr. Wayne Wesley, CXC\u00ae Registrar; Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana; Dr. Luz Longsworth, Senior Corporate Director of Sandals Corporate University and former Principal and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the UWI Global Campus; Ms. Alison Drayton, Assistant Secretary General of Human and Social Development at CARICOM; and Professor Peter Scott, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning, along with his team.<\/p>\n
