The Dominica Fire and Ambulance Services stated that on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at approximately 11:55 PM, the Roseau Fire Station was alerted to a structural fire at the junction of Old Street and King George V Street, near the Old Market Square.<\/p>\n

A press release from the organization described the operation and current findings.<\/p>\n

It goes on to explain that upon arrival at the scene, firefighters observed a large blaze involving several buildings in the vicinity of Jolly\u2019s Pharmacy. Initial efforts to suppress the fire were impeded by energized fallen electrical lines, which were subsequently de-energized by DOMLEC.<\/p>\n

The firefighting operation involved a start-up crew of nine fire officers, who were later joined by additional personnel from Grand Bay and St. Joseph Fire Stations, as well as off-duty staff. In total, thirty fire officers participated in combating the blaze.<\/p>\n

According to the authorities, seven buildings sustained substantial damage, while three experienced minor damage. The affected structures included:<\/p>\n

1. The building owned by Singoalla Blomqvist-Williams at the corner of Old Street and Church Lane suffered roof and siding damage on the northern side.<\/p>\n

2. A commercial property owned by Conrad McIntyre, housing Oasis of Elegance, with the first and second floors completely destroyed and the roof caving in.<\/p>\n

3. The craft shop owned by Conroy Allen was destroyed with its roof caved in.<\/p>\n

4. The building owned by Colbert Cue, housing CG United and DOMLEC, experienced scorching damage on the northern side.<\/p>\n

5. A commercial establishment owned by Ken Robinson, operating Craving Restaurant, was completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

6. Jolly\u2019s Pharmacy, including business offices and the gym, was severely damaged by fire, with the pharmacy also suffering water damage.<\/p>\n

7. The Z-One store owned by tenant Weimin Gu was completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

8. The building housing One Pot Restaurant and Bar sustained scorching and minor fire damage.<\/p>\n

9. The structure housing Ruins Bar at the corner of Old Street and King George V Street, which sustained scorching damage.<\/p>\n

10. The Raffoul building, home to Patty\u2019s Shack, experienced scorching on the southern side of the first and second floors.<\/p>\n

Additionally, one vehicle\u2014a Toyota Rav belonging to the owner of one affected business\u2014was destroyed by the fire.<\/p>\n

The Dominica Fire and Ambulance Services, along with the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, are currently investigating the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n

The organization also extended its best wishes to all those affected and hopes for a swift recovery for the affected businesses.<\/p>\n
