With regard to the outage that occurred on the 11th of March 2026, the following are the facts that surround this event. As many may know, we are now preparing to interface the geothermal plant with DOMLEC’s existing system. To do so, we were preparing to have some works done at the Fond Col\u00e9 plant, and while that was being done, a fault occurred on the system that resulted in the wide area network outage that we had.<\/p>\n

This had absolutely nothing to do with the geothermal plant, but it’s a fault that occurred on DOMLEC’s system that resulted in the generators that we had on the system tripping off. So we just want the public to know that DOMLEC, right now, we are really preparing to get all the geothermal energy onto the network, and we will continue to do what we have to do to ensure that the geothermal plant is successfully commissioned and tied into our network.<\/p>\n

But just to assure the public that this outage was not due to the geothermal plant, but a fault that occurred while we were reconfiguring the network to accommodate work at the Fond Col\u00e9 power station, to accommodate the power that will be supplied to DOMLEC from the geothermal plant.<\/p>\n

Okay, the duration of the outage was such that we had almost all of our generators at Fond Col\u00e9 off because that was necessary to do the work at the Fond Col\u00e9 power plant. Hence, it took some time to restore our customers back onto the network because we had all those units off and we had to bring them back on. We had some challenges with that too while we were restoring the system, and it was because of some of our generators that we could not bring on as quick as we wanted to.<\/p>\n

But nevertheless, we did all that we could to ensure that all of our customers were restored in a timely manner.<\/p>\n
