Located within the stone walls of a former sugar mill plantation dating back to the era of slavery, the site stands as a reminder of the brutal system under which enslaved Africans labored to generate wealth for Britain and other European powers. Lawrence understood the importance of reclaiming such spaces as places of cultural affirmation rather than historical silence.<\/p>\n
