Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has extended condolences following the sudden death of former government minister Ian Pinard, acknowledging his years of service to Dominica.<\/p>\n

In a written statement, Skerrit said he was \u201cshocked and deeply saddened\u201d by the news, describing Pinard as a colleague and friend who contributed to the country\u2019s development. He noted that the loss is being felt both personally and nationally.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister reflected on Pinard\u2019s involvement in public life, beginning with his role as Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency, where he says Pinard remained closely connected to the community.<\/p>\n

Highlighting his role in government and his contributions to infrastructure and community initiatives during his tenure, the prime minister also referenced Pinard\u2019s service as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education and later as Minister for Public Works.<\/p>\n

Skerrit further recognized Pinard\u2019s involvement in the Dominica Labour Party, including his service as Vice President from 2024, and his continued commitment to the organization.<\/p>\n

“I knew Ian as someone who cared deeply about his country and who valued the relationships he built along the way. He was also a steadfast member of the Dominica Labour Party, contributing to its growth, remaining committed to its mission over the years and serving as Vice President from 2024. His passing is a great loss for our party and for the wider nation,” said Skerrit.<\/p>\n

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of my dear friend, colleague and former Government minister, Ian Pinard, who gave many years of committed service to the people of Dominica and contributed meaningfully to the advancement of our country. His passing is a profound personal loss.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I will remember Ian as a devoted servant of the Dominican people. From his early involvement in public life as Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency, he demonstrated a genuine passion for improving the lives of those he represented and maintaining a strong connection with his community.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education and later as Minister for Public Works, carrying out his responsibilities with focus and discipline. His contributions, both in Parliament and in Cabinet, helped shape key areas of national development, particularly in infrastructure and community advancement.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
