The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced the successful staging of the Pure Grenada Masters Cricket Tournament, a week-long sporting event that brought together veteran cricketers from across the Caribbean while delivering a boost to the island\u2019s tourism sector and local economy.<\/p>\n

A GTA press release said the tournament attracted 60 visiting players representing four regional teams \u2014 the West Indies Masters, Trinidad\u2019s Munroe Road Masters, Guyana\u2019s North Soesdyke, and Barbados\u2019 AMAAS Masters. They competed alongside two Grenadian teams, Spice Isle Masters 1 and Spice Isle Masters 2, in a lively showcase of regional cricket talent and camaraderie.<\/p>\n

At the end of the competition, Guyana\u2019s North Soesdyke emerged as tournament champions, while Trinidad\u2019s Munroe Road Masters secured the runner-up position after a week of competitive matches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pure Grenada Masters Cricket Tournament is a shining example of how sports tourism can fuel our local economy and showcase our island\u2019s hospitality,\u201d noted Stacey Liburd, CEO of the GTA. \u201cBy blending competition with strategic partnerships, we are creating meaningful experiences that benefit our service sectors and keep Grenada\u2019s tourism momentum strong throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organizers said the event extended well beyond the cricket field, generating economic activity across several sectors including hospitality, restaurants, and tourism-related businesses as visiting participants spent time on the island.<\/p>\n

To expand engagement between visitors and the local business community, organizers also hosted a consumer pop-up marketplace on the tournament\u2019s final day. The initiative allowed local brands and entrepreneurs to interact directly with players, supporters, and guests attending the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we continue to deploy our 2026 strategy, we remain fully committed to positioning Grenada as a sports tourism destination,\u201d said Tornia Charles, Chief Marketing Officer at the GTA. \u201cOur aim of achieving this goal goes beyond just hosting; we intend to create a lasting impact for all Grenadians who benefit from visitors coming to our shores.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GTA also revealed plans to further develop the Masters Cricket Tournament into a recurring annual event. Future goals include increasing the number of participating teams, attracting larger audiences, and incorporating more cultural experiences and business activities into the tournament experience.<\/p>\n
