Ten secondary schools in Dominica and the Dominica State College are set to receive donated copies of the recently released publication Sea Wolves in Warm Waters: The U-Boat Battle in the Caribbean<\/em> by Dominican author Clement Richards.<\/p>\n The book marks Richards\u2019 second published work, as per a Dominica Bookshelf press release. It follows his first book, Indian Warner: Son of Two Worlds<\/em>, which was released in 2025.<\/p>\n In his latest publication, the author explores a lesser-known chapter of Caribbean history during World War II, focusing on the operations of German U-boats in Caribbean waters and the impact of the conflict on the region.<\/p>\n Speaking about the significance of the subject matter, Richards said, \u201cThis is a very important segment of recent Caribbean history that is generally overlooked or forgotten. The book is an attempt to inform and educate readers in the region and beyond about its importance and significance.\u201d<\/p>\n The donation is being facilitated by the Law Offices of Gabriel J. Christian & Associates LLC of Maryland, United States, in partnership with the Rebuild Dominica Organization.<\/p>\n Organizers say the initiative is intended to promote educational development, increase awareness of Caribbean history, and encourage students to engage with publications produced by Dominican and regional writers.<\/p>\n The official handover ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Archives Unit on Kennedy Avenue in Roseau.<\/p>\n The programme will include remarks from author Clement Richards, a video presentation from book donor Gabriel Christian, and an address by Prince St Jean, Officer-in-Charge of the Dominica Library and Information Service.<\/p>\n A student of the St. Martin Secondary School will present a reading from the book, while acceptance remarks on behalf of the participating institutions will be delivered by a representative of the Pierre Charles Secondary School.<\/p>\n Organizers anticipate that the donation will increase students\u2019 access to historical literature that reflects Caribbean experiences and perspectives.
