Carrette<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Police Chief Cyril Carrette has said the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) will soon play a greater supervisory role over the work of the prosecution at the Magistrate’s Court.<\/p>\n

This as some prosecutors at the Magistrate’s Court are to operate from the offices of the DPP.<\/p>\n

Carrette said the move is expected to enhance the prosecution of matters at the High Court.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an arrangement where the police prosecutors will be operating in the same building with the Director of Public Prosecution. This means that they will be under the direct supervision of the DPP and that will enhance our prosecution of matters at the court because the DPP is legally trained and the advice will be readily available,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Carrette explained further that state prosecution falls under the DPP and often times he has to be consulted for advice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe find that sometimes there is a delay between the time that the advice is requested and received.
