Dominica is presently experiencing bad weather associated with a trough system interacting with a topical wave, the Dominica Met office has said said.<\/p>\n

Coordinator of the Disaster Management Office, Don Corriete said bad weather, floods and landslides are expected and wants person traversing the country to exercise caution.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want people to exercise tremendous caution as they traverse throughout the island, the country is experiencing a tropical wave right now, soils are saturated and there is lots of water in the atmosphere,” Corriette points out.<\/p>\n

Officials from the Ministry of Public Works are presently on their way to survey a landslide in Dubique and flooding in Soufriere.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the area between the two bridges in the Layou Valley have been declared a disaster zone after the Matthieu Dam collapsed last night.<\/p>\n

The met office said the interaction between the trough system and the the tropical wave is expected to result in increased moisture levels being maintained across the island today. As a result, an increase in cloudiness with periods of showers and possible isolated thunderstorms can be expected during the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Most of the significant convection associated with this trough is expected mainly across the southern Windward islands, according to the met office.<\/p>\n
