\"\"Hon. Minister Julius Timothy, Minister of Health said, \u201cstatistic shows that 33 percent of men are over weight or obese, 66 percent of women are over weight or obese, and 11 percent of children are over weight or obese.<\/p>\n

With this in mind the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are collaborating with the St Paul and St Ann\u2019s Parish to launch what is be dubbed, \u201cNipping Obesity at the Roots!\u201d programme.<\/p>\n

This event will be held at the Massacre\/Canefield School, which hails the Dominica Hula Hoop Champions (the Etienne Sisters), and will be staged on Friday 16 September, 2011. During which 500 collapsible Hula Hoops will be distributed to schools in Dominica.<\/p>\n

Preceding the launching will be a gathering of Primary School Sports Teachers at the Public Training Centre, where their annual planning meeting will be held.<\/p>\n

The main Speakers at this \u201cNIPPING OBESITY AT THE ROOTS\u201d launching will be the Minister of Health, Hon Julius Timothy, Mr. Andy Burkard, Health Sports Consulter at the Youth and Sports Division, and the Principal of the Massacre\/Canefield School, Mrs. Cynthia Cuffy-Morvan, among others.<\/p>\n

It is hope that through this programme one and all will become more aware of the need to take greater responsibility for one\u2019s health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hon.
