Tropical Storm Ophelia is disorganized but producing 65 mph winds.<\/p>\n

At 11 am, the center of Tropical Storm Ophelia was located near latitude 13.6 north, longitude 47.6 west or about 950 miles east southeast of Dominica.<\/p>\n

Ophelia is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km\/h) and this motion is expected to continue today with a turn to the west-northwest expected by tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (105 km\/h) with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours due to strong upper-level winds. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 230 miles (370 km) mostly to the north of the center. A buoy located to the north of the center recently reported 1-minute mean winds of 63 mph (101 km\/h) and a wind gust of 78 mph (126 km\/h).<\/p>\n

This system is forecasted to be near the island chain by Saturday.
