On Saturday November 26, Parliamentary Representative for the Castle Bruce constituency, Johnson Drigo met with persons from Castle Bruce, Good Hope, San Sauveur, Petit Soufriere area living in Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n

According to Drigo, the purpose of the visit was to have a dialogue with all his constituents, first of all, to thank them for the tremendous contribution they have made and are still making towards the development the constituency and Dominica and to present to them what Dominica has to offer in the areas such as housing, skills development, agriculture and tourism, but most importantly, to examine how they could further assist the constituency in moving forward.<\/p>\n

Among some of the areas discussed were, to see how the constituents could sponsor some of the children of the constituency whose parents are unable to afford to send them to high school and how they can assist in the various development projects in the constituency. Drigo also presented some of his achievements since becoming parliamentary representative, one of them being able, through sponsors, put more street lights in some areas that were too dark.<\/p>\n

Drigo said, a six-member steering committee was set up to meet and dialogue with his constituency association in Dominica so that both parties can benefit in a mutual and successful manner. Through the discussions he is hoping that by early 2012, they can see a more transparent and meaningful contribution coming out of Guadeloupe to Dominica and from Dominica to Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n

Prior to the meeting with his constituents, on Friday November 25, Drigo met with the heads of other Dominican associations and clubs in an encounter organized by the Dominica Guadeloupe Association. The purpose of the encounter was to share and present ideas of how the other associations could create a unified body of all Dominicans in order to have a bigger and more positive impact on the Dominican community in Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n

According to Drigo, \u201cAll in all, I was very impressed and satisfied with the discussions and the turnout and I\u2019m looking forward to meeting with my constituents in other major countries and cities around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
