This article is written as an appeal to all Dominicans, at home and abroad, particularly to all our institutional, spiritual, community and political leaders\u00a0 and\u00a0 all journalists and\u00a0 personalities in\u00a0 our print,electronic and broadcast media houses\u00a0 to\u00a0 heal our nation!!!<\/p>\n

It is a call to action on a daily basis to reconcile and heal all our people at home and abroad\u00a0 from the vicious spiritual, social and mental cancer of party political and religious tribalism, prejudice,hatred\u00a0 and intolerance which seriously\u00a0 threatens to destroy the very fabric of our society at every level. Please, let us all work daily to\u00a0 heal our nation, for the sake of our children and their children!!!<\/p>\n

No leader or person should be too big to genuinely seek forgiveness\u00a0 , mercy and\u00a0 to appologise to anyone who one has offended in any way. Reconciliation also involves correcting\u00a0 the wrong\u00a0 or injustice which one may have caused !! It is this Godly humility which makes one truely great and wise!<\/p>\n

This is true Love !!!<\/p>\n

Also, I write this article to beg and plead with all our political and religious leaders, as well as all journalists and\u00a0 media personalities to be more sober, professional, statesmanlike, humble, consiliatory and patriotic in our public and private utterances and daily lives; so that the peace and tranquility of our beautiful nation will be restored and edure for the good of all of us and our children.<\/p>\n

As citizens\u00a0 we can disagree respectfully\u00a0\u00a0 with dignity without becoming\u00a0 disagreeable, destructive or personal !!! Our nation needs a real chance\u00a0 to settle down and focuss our energies on\u00a0 achieving long term socio-economic prosperity for all our people, as children of The One Almighty God created in His image and likeness\u00a0 !!! We must\u00a0 work together daily to raise the spiritual, social, cultural,moral and intellectual consciousness of all our people ,at home and abroad ,to achieve this noble goal!!!<\/p>\n

Firstly, we all need to\u00a0 clearly understand\u00a0 that The Commonwealth of Dominica is a free, democratic and sovereign nation state\u00a0 established UNDER ALMIGHTY GOD after the West Ministerial Model as of\u00a0 November 3rd ,1978. The foundation of the\u00a0 democratic sovereignty of our nation resides in the People of The Commonwealth of Dominica, both at home and abroad, and not in any single political party , leader and \/or media personality of any kind.\u00a0 One of the ways in which this\u00a0 sovereignty is expressed and made manifest is\u00a0 through the collective will of the people every five\u00a0 years at the ballot box in general elections which must be free ,fair and transparent. That will of the people was very clearly expressed in the December 19th, 2009 general elections !!!<\/p>\n

The second most important manifestation of our democratic nationhood is our God Given free expression of conscience, free speech in all forms , the free media,\u00a0 intellectual freedom, free movement and free religion and worship of\u00a0 Almighty God\u00a0 within the confines of our national constitution and dignified human reason as established by CARICOM, The UN ,The OAS and other civilized global organizations. It must be very clearly understood that these freedoms are for the use of all citizens , not as weapons of tribal war, hatred or prejudice!!! These freedoms are God given to be used to build and prosper the nation for the benefit of all our people at home and abroad !!! They were not meant to be weapons of war and\/or self destruction!!!<\/p>\n

These are the principles and norms\u00a0 which must at all times guide all stake holders within our media houses, political and religious organizations here in Dominica and throughout the Caribbean in our daily exercise of the powers of the offices within the media,\u00a0 legislative, judiciary and executive branches of our Government ,as well as all our churches and\u00a0 other religious organisations. Ethical conduct , Godly morality, justice for all , fairness ,sound ,mature and well reasoned judgement are the heart and soul of these founding principles of democratic governance. The very future of our nation depends on these principles !!!<\/p>\n

Secondly, the Art\u00a0 and Science of Democracy is and has always been the ability of citizens of a democratic nation to disagree respectfully.\u00a0 Political philosophers like Hobbes have contended that a civilized democratic society will make significant progress only if it promotes the art of respectful descent at all levels of society. All ideas must always be allowed to contend freely so that the very best ideas can emerge in the final analysis.<\/p>\n

It is this free flow of diametrically opposed ideas which has allowed Political Science , as well as all other sciences, the arts, Information Technology, Educational Sciences, Engineering and all other fields of study to evolve , flourish and so facilitate the socio-economic prosperity of all grate nations and civilizations such as The US, Canada and much of Europe.<\/p>\n

The tragic state of affairs in Dominica, at this very moment, is that the free flow of contending views at all levels of our Public and Private Sector Institutions has for far too long been held hostage by the cancer of diabolical party political and religious tribalism ,\u00a0 the short sighted cut -your -nose -to spite -your -face attitude, pettiness, a diabolic cult of self destructiveness\u00a0 and prejudice which must be ended once and for all at every level of our society ,if we are to progress as a nation. Is this how we ,as a society, hope to search for truth justice , peace and socio-economic development??? This is holding back the socio-economic progress of our nation !!! It is backwardness personified !!!!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 apostles of this most venomous\u00a0 form of mental and spiritual slavery who hide behind\u00a0 their party political , religious and media\u00a0 stripes of every shade have been wrecking havoc on the minds and souls of\u00a0 their flock as they divide and rule our people\u2019s minds and\u00a0 souls\u00a0 and this nation, starting\u00a0 even before independence in 1978 and\u00a0 for decades since !!!. They come in every shade of social class , profession, political and religious organization. The result is that ,the very fabric\u00a0 of our society\u00a0 has been savaged by these monsters as they build their kingdoms of straw not realizing THAT ALL IS VANITY AND AN ABOMINITATION AND VEXATION TO THE SPIRIT !!!! THIS WILL SURELY BRING GOD\u2019S WRATH ON OUR NATION AND SWIFT JUDGEMENT ON THOSE RESPONSIBLE !!! FOR WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN OR WOMAN TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD AND ,IN THE END, LOSE ONE\u2019S SOUL ???<\/p>\n

This\u00a0 spiritual and mental cancer is daily eating away at every piece of humanity, integrity, dignity, peace and progress of our society\u00a0 at every level and the daily life of our people at home and abroad !!!\u00a0 This is exactly why\u00a0 our people are quickly losing our basic\u00a0 Godly civility, sense of oneness, brotherly and sisterly love, peace and tranquility and respect for everything descent. This has gone much too far !!!<\/p>\n

Some of our political and religious leaders, journalists\u00a0 and media personalities have thrown objectivity,fairness,integrity, patriotism, balance and professionalism out the window !!! Instead they are daily doing great violence to\u00a0 everything sacred , holy, good ,moral and upright about Dominica in a slash- and- burn style !!!! How, may I ask, can we expect our youth to be non-violent with role models such as these ??? The youth learn every bit of their violence from what, we as\u00a0\u00a0 adults , especially parents,\u00a0 say and do;\u00a0 and whta we adults fail to say and\u00a0 do\u00a0\u00a0 daily\u00a0 for the betterment of our society.<\/p>\n

Also, some of us\u00a0 adults fail to guide our youth in truth and righteous living\u00a0 as a direct result of our selfish, roofless and lawless daily\u00a0 life and\u00a0 bad example !!!! Some of our religious and political leaders and media personalities\u00a0 consistently bombard our\u00a0 youth through the media\u00a0 with a menu of hate , anger and all forms of verbal and emotional violence; then they wonder why the youth take drugs, commit suicide, murder, steal, fight and injure each other at home , school and in public\u00a0 places daily across Dominica and the Caribbean. It is time to wake up and smell the coffee !!! We have to give Love Joy and peace and the other fruits of God’s Holy Spirit\u00a0 a chance to take root in our nation , particularly among our yoputh!!!\u00a0 Our youth only practice what they see adults do daily at home ,in parliament, on the streets, on television, at schools and in every day life !!!! We adults need to speak to the youth with our daily life of eghteous,upright healthy living !!! Empty words are just not enough !!!!!<\/p>\n

Finally, in the words of\u00a0 Martin Luther king Junior:<\/p>\n

“Let us all ,as the Children of One God work daily to ensure tha this nation will rise and live out the true meaning of its dream.”<\/p>\n

Let freedom ring from every mountain top and every corner of this land so that Dominica can become a great nation.<\/p>\n

Dominica is the Land of The Lord Almighty; so let all our people\u00a0 at home and abroad, as God’s children, acknowledge the common humanity and dignity of all!!!<\/p>\n

I PRAY TO GOD DAILY THAT ALL OUR\u00a0 POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS, AND MEDIA PERSONALITIES HAVE CONSCIENCES THAT ARE NOT DEAD YET; I PRAY\u00a0 THAT THEY COME TO THEIR SENSES !!
