\"\"The Dominica government has assured its commitment to legislation that will help lessen incidence of domestic violence and support victims of the abuse.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a workshop on Wednesday minister for gender affairs, Gloria Shillingford, said she anticipates the adoption of the domestic violence legislation here.<\/p>\n

The seminar focusing on violence prevention is expected to go on until Friday 7 December, and coincides with a 16-day campaign against gender violence. The Dominica Planned Parenthood Association and Caribbean Make Action Network, Dominica are spearheading the meeting at Prevo Cinemall.<\/p>\n

The Gender Affairs Minister said the enactment of domestic violence legislation would \u201csignificantly impact the targeted persons and in so doing, bring about desired behavior changes, which will it is hoped, lessen the incidents of domestic violence in society.\u201d<\/p>\n
