PRESS RELEASE:<\/strong> On Wednesday Government announced the ground breaking for the $100,000,000.00 West Coast Road project to take place on Friday, and not one executive member of the Tipper Truckers Association of Dominica has been invited to the function.<\/p>\n

Association President Earl Laudat has confirmed this as well as treasurer Arthur Shillingford. Up to late [Tuesday] night association members including executive officers were frantically seeking to contact their parliamentary representatives. A majority of the association’s members supported the Labour Party at the recent general elections. Many members have invested in trucks and other equipment with the intention of participating in this the biggest project to be undertaken in Dominica.<\/p>\n

At this point in time the association is able to provide all trucking haulage backhoe bulldozer and excavator work for the project, but it has learnt that the Chinese are coming with everything they need; and in fact they are not willing to even buy colas from PWD, so they are bringing their own plant.<\/p>\n

Association efforts to link with the Chinese are frustrating and groups of despondent truckers have been agitating and pressing the executive to “do something.”<\/p>\n
