Quick action by staff at Harris Paints may have averted a major fire at the company’s headquarters.<\/p>\n

Fire and emergency personnel, including an ambulance and fire brigade trucks, rushed to the scene on Monday morning in the Rock Away area when it was reported that a double flourescent ceiling lighting fixture started sparking, resulting in a small fire.<\/p>\n

However members of staff quickly put out the fire and brought the situation under control.<\/p>\n

Finance Manager John Joseph said staff used a fire-extinguisher to put out the small blaze in the ceiling of the company\u2019s office, that lasted less than five minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been having fire drills for the last year or so, and everybody know what they had to do,\u201d Joseph said, confirming that the office was evacuated after the fire alarm was raised.<\/p>\n

Staff were mingling outside and police officers on hand when DNO arrived on the scene.<\/p>\n

Joseph said he expected work to resume within minutes as soon as they were given the \u201call clear\u201d by the company\u2019s electricians.<\/p>\n
