{"id":5580,"date":"2010-03-05T14:40:35","date_gmt":"2010-03-05T20:40:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/?p=5580"},"modified":"2010-03-05T15:38:21","modified_gmt":"2010-03-05T21:38:21","slug":"dncw-boss-advises-women-to-value-their-womanhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/news\/general\/dncw-boss-advises-women-to-value-their-womanhood\/","title":{"rendered":"DNCW boss advises women to value their womanhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/news_logo3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5581\" title=\"news_logo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/news_logo3-300x264.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/news_logo3-300x264.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/news_logo3.jpg 311w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>President of the Dominica National Council on Women (DNCW) Josephine Dublin-Prince says Dominicans have failed to appreciate the struggles of women of the past.<\/p>\n<p>March 08, 2010 will be commemorated as International Women\u2019s Day, and the DNCW and the Women\u2019s Bureau have planned two major activities.<\/p>\n<p>Prince says the first activity will take the form of a panel discussion by secondary school students, under the theme: \u201cThis History of the Women\u2019s Movement, Lessons for Young Women Today\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to say to them that they need to value their womanhood and appreciate the fact that women play a pivotal role in the socio-economic and political life of Dominica,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The other activity will take place at the Arawak House of Culture, where dignitaries will give addresses, while women give various testimonies.<\/p>\n<p>These testimonies are expected to be done in song and poetry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are reminded of the struggles our Haitian sisters are going through, as we celebrate that day.
