An increase in the physical presence of security guards at secondary schools is among measures to be put in place by education officials in Dominica.<\/p>\n

The new move follows two days of unrest at the Dominica Grammar School (DGS) involving teachers and students.<\/p>\n

The country\u2019s Chief Education Officer Stevenson Hyacinth reported Thursday that the Ministry of Education currently has three security guards at the DGS and the security will be increased at all secondary schools.<\/p>\n

He said meetings will be conducted with the principals of various secondary schools on the island to further discuss the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe met with the DGS teachers today and their main concerns were that of security. We informed them that we will be scrutinizing how effective the security guards are in performing their duties.
