JOHN\u2019S, Antigua, March 09, 2010 \u2013 <\/strong>LIAT, the region\u2019s largest airline, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ilean Ramsey as its new Director of Human Resources.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ramsey, whose appointment took effect on Monday, 15<sup>th<\/sup> February 2010, replaces William Tomlinson who retired at the end of February after 36 years with the company.<\/p>\n<p>As a member of LIAT\u2019s Executive Management Team, Ms. Ramsey will direct the company\u2019s human resources functions to ensure that they align with the airline\u2019s goals and objectives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited about the opportunity to guide LIAT\u2019s HR practices at this time,\u201d Ms. Ramsey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the present trends and challenges facing airlines in the region, the role of the HR Department is crucial in ensuring that we, at LIAT, efficiently execute our function to advance commerce and integration in the Caribbean.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ramsey brings to LIAT more than 20 years of comprehensive human resources experience in change management, recruitment and retention, succession planning, conflict resolution and labour relations.<\/p>\n<p>She is a graduate of the Urban League Leadership Training Institute and her qualifications include a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1983 and 2009 Ms. Ramsey served in several companies including Caribbean Pharmaceutical Supplies Limited as Managing Director; Stanford Financial Group as Human Resources Manager and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority as an Employment Specialist.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ramsey\u2019s civic involvement includes her previous role as director on the boards of the Antigua &amp; Barbuda Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Antigua &amp; Barbuda Social Security Board and The Rotary Club of Antigua.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Chief Executive Officer, Brian Challenger welcomed Ms. Ramsey to LIAT. He noted that while the airline faced a number of HR challenges, he was confident in Ms. Ramsey\u2019s ability to make a meaningful contribution to the development of the company\u2019s human resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>LIAT.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
