Three men said to have been assisting the police in an alleged kidnapping case were taken to court on Monday after being formally arrested and charged.<\/p>\n

They appeared before a Roseau Magistrate where the charges were read and bail denied.<\/p>\n

Jan Bedminster, Kimon Beaupierre and Dilon Alexander were charged with \u201cunlawfully and forcefully kidnapping\u201d Deon Hakim Alfred and Leon \u201cDopie\u201d Joseph on March 10th, 2012.<\/p>\n

Joseph and Alfred were reported missing on March 11th, 2012 by their relatives.<\/p>\n

According to the police both men were last seen around 9pm on March 10th, 2012.<\/p>\n

Police prosecutor Inspector Claude Weeks in objecting to bail told the court, \u201cit is the prosecution\u2019s contention that the defendants if granted bail could interfere with the ongoing investigations as there are other persons of interest being sought in connection with the kidnapping offense.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weekes also informed the Court that one of the defendants Jan Bedminster, who was charged with the kidnapping offense breached his bail conditions for a previous offense and should not be granted bail.<\/p>\n

The magistrate in the end denied bail and remanded the accused men.<\/p>\n

The case was heard before Chief Magiatrate Evalina Baptiste and the preliminary investigation is expected to begin in July.<\/p>\n
