Ongoing wreck removal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Officials behind the ongoing\u00a0project in the town of Portsmouth to remove several wrecks of ships which ran aground over the course of decades, say it is on course and is expected to finish in the next three to four months.<\/p>\n

The operations manager on the project, speaking with Dominica News Online, informed us that there are only two ships left to be removed.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary representative for the Portsmouth constituency, Ian Douglas, also expressed satisfaction with the pace of the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe removal of the wrecks is going very well; the Venezuelans are moving with good speed, we are happy about the progress being made\u201d said Douglas.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike we said at the inauguration of the St.John\u2019s Fisheries Co-operative, this is just another step in the future development in the town of Portsmouth,\u201d Douglas declared.<\/p>\n

The removal of the wrecks on the Portsmouth coastline is being undertaken by a Venezuelan company with extensive experience in such projects.<\/p>\n
