At operation Youth Quake, they provide temporary residence for Kids in crisis situations.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6121\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6121\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/After-church-service.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6121\" title=\"After church service\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/After-church-service-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/After-church-service-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/After-church-service.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After church service<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As Rotaractors, we believe in the old clich\u00e9 that the children are our future. These kids will be tomorrow\u2019s leaders. It is our duty to play our part in steering them in the right direction, hence the reason behind this noteworthy donation.<\/p>\n<p>Rotaract stands for Rotary and Action, and Rotaract is a Rotary sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30 providing community service to those who need it the most in our society. The first Rotaract club was born on March 13th 1968 in Charlotte Town, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Embracing its motto \u2018Fellowship through Service\u2019 Rotaract continues to serve our communities through various activities, many of which the club have become well know for, such as the annual carnival princess show, our regular street feeding program, Christmas party for unfortunate children, donations to needy families, the annual Haliborange Rotaract Spelling Bee, painting of pillars of characters among other projects.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with Rotary\u2019s theme, \u2018the future of Rotary is in your hands\u2019 we have adapted the theme \u2018the future of Rotaract is in your Hands\u2019. Our hands.\u00a0 The future of Dominica is in the hands of the young people and we should seek to build the country by doing something positive in our communities. Community service is not just about the hard work, it\u2019s about making a difference by contributing something of value to you &#8211; skills, time, and advice. It\u2019s about helping without expecting something in return, motivating others to make a difference in their community.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration of World Rotaract Week began with a church service at the St. Johns Anglican Church in Portsmouth, where the club donated a food hamper to a needy family.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday night the club hosted a Guest Night with the purpose of increasing the club\u2019s membership while getting more young people involved in community service and teaching young people more about Rotaract. Rotaract is also about professional development. Therefore, as part of the exercise the Dominica Fire &amp; Ambulance Services did session on fire safety with the club. The Rotaract club of Roseau also chose this momentous milestone to induct a new member.<\/p>\n<p>Rotaract aims:<\/p>\n<p>To develop professional and leadership skills.<br \/>\nTo emphasize respect for the rights of others based on recognition of the worth of each individual.<br \/>\nTo recognize, the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve.<br \/>\nTo recognize, practice and promote ethical standards as leadership qualities and vocational responsibilities.<br \/>\nTo develop knowledge and understanding of the needs of, problems and opportunities in the community and worldwide.<br \/>\nTo provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill to all people.<\/p>\n<p>The Club has over the years continued to fulfill its objectives of serving the community as a result of the commitment and hard work of its members, generosity of corporate sponsors, and the support of the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>The Rotaract Club of Roseau would like to remind young people that they are the future of Dominica and should seek to build the country by doing something positive in their communities. We dare you, the youth, to take the steps to fulfill the urge or sense of obligation to stand for something bigger than yourself. The future of Dominica is in our hands.
