I can unequivocally state that Dominica has moved to the top of my list of favorite places.<\/p>\n<p>My first knowledge of Dominica came from my granddaughter after she traveled to the island as part of a high school community service project. I first saw the island with my own eyes during a Caribbean cruise and it was love at first sight.\u00a0 I was instantly attracted to the lush green vistas, the amazing views,\u00a0 and the friendliness of the people.\u00a0 I spent the whole day in downtown Roseau, mostly at the market. . . .\u00a0 chatting with\u00a0 vendors, checking out the museum, shops, and food stands.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0 was really impressed with several of the herbal products that I saw and I brought home a nice supply of medicinal herbs, herbal teas, and soaps.\u00a0 I found them all to be of superior quality and I made up mind then and there that I would visit the island again.<\/p>\n<p>Upon returning, I chose a small hotel that was ideally situated within walking distance of Roseau.\u00a0 I\u00a0 had the good fortune of meeting a native Dominican who was kind enough to drive me across the entire island&#8212;-North, South, East and West&#8212;-during the week of my stay.<\/p>\n<p>I was able to experience several of the villages and tourist sites and\u00a0 I especially enjoyed the great variety of fresh fruits:\u00a0 wild cherries, mango, sour sop, bananas, etc.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m already planning my next trip to Dominica; this time I&#8217;m hoping to make arrangements for an extended stay, perhaps to explore the possibility of investing in some island real estate.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all your postings.\u00a0 Its wonderful to be able to keep up with life on the island even though I&#8217;m back at home.<\/p>\n<p>Joan Edwards<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dear Editor, Last month, I spent a most pleasant week as a tourist in Dominica.
