An accident on the same area on the Pond Casse main road has once again left many people talking about that particular stretch of road.<\/p>\n

The area called William has seen quite a few accidents over time: many did not make it to the media because they were relatively minor and motorists simply pulled their vehicles back on the road and went on their merry ways.<\/p>\n

But some of these accidents have grabbed the national spotlight, such as the one in May 2011 that took the life of 12-year-old girl, Keyana Emmanuel, and left 11 injured.<\/p>\n

Back in October 2004 an accident in the area also claimed the life of former United Workers Party candidate for the Pointe Michel\/Soufriere Constituency, Dennis La Bassiere.<\/p>\n

The latest took place on Saturday afternoon when a bus ran off the road.<\/p>\n

And so travelers, mostly bus drivers, of the road have come up with theories as to the reason for the frequency of these accidents on that particular stretch of road.<\/p>\n

Some of these travelers have told Dominica News Online that there is a ‘jumbie’ prowling the area and is the culprit behind the accidents.<\/p>\n

And they say they have visual evidence to back up their claims.<\/p>\n

According to these stories late night drivers in the area have seen a white lady hitch hiking along the road and would suddenly disappear into thin air when the vehicle gets closer.<\/p>\n

The stories claim the lady is dressed in white and has flowing blond or grey hair.<\/p>\n

The sight of the white lady on the road resonates very well with a bus driver who was held up on the way from Roseau.<\/p>\n

The bus driver (DNO will not reveal the person’s name out of fear the person might be ridiculed) was driving to the east coast late one night and was stopped by a man. Although it was very late the bus driver, being of kind heart, gave the man the lift.<\/p>\n

However luck was not on the bus driver’s side for as they were driving through the same stretch of road the man pulled out a knife and held it to the bus driver’s throat. Just then, according to the story told to DNO, the two saw the white lady on the side of the road flagging a ride.<\/p>\n

Panic overcame the two and the ‘hold up’ was completely forgotten. The bus driver did not stop but drove at break neck speed to Shayan’s Shop roughly half a mile away. It was then they realized the bus driver had lost control of the bladder and front seat was completely covered with urine.<\/p>\n

The story has taken hold so much that some people have sworn they will never drive through that area late at night.<\/p>\n

Whether the story is true or not, many facts remain: motorists should always make sure their vehicles are in optimum working condition and drivers should always drive carefully on Dominica’s roads since reckless driving puts the lives of many people at risk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An accident on the same area on the Pond Casse main road has once again left many people talking about that particular stretch of road.
