Barbadian Corey Poleon was allegedly killed by Sherman Webb<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The mother of 23-year-old murdered Barbadian Corey Poleon testified on behalf of her son in court on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Poleon is alleged to have been killed by Kingshill resident Sherman Webb in the heights of Elmshall in 2009.<\/p>\n

Poleon\u2019s mother – Denise Gilkes – described her son to the High Court as someone who was an ambitious, intelligent and spiritual individual who attended church regularly.<\/p>\n

She indicated that her son had travelled to Dominica during February of 2009 and again in August of that same year.<\/p>\n

Gilkes, along with her daughter\u00a0 Janelle and Lawrence Gilkes, informed the court that saliva samples were taken from them at a lab in Barbados, which was instrumental in helping to identify the remains of their son and brother.<\/p>\n

Janelle told the court that she and her brother had a very good relationship whereas Lawrence explained that he and Corey \u201cwere not on the best terms.\u201d<\/p>\n

All three relatives of the deceased said that Poleon did not contact them at all while in Dominica in August.<\/p>\n

Aunt of the accused, Mona James broke down in tears as she testified in court.<\/p>\n

She informed the court that her nephew had brought Poleon home as a friend and that she had welcomed him into her home.<\/p>\n

According to her, he remained at her home for about four days.<\/p>\n

The accused told her that Poleon had returned home when she inquired about his whereabouts.<\/p>\n

She explained that murder accused Webb lived with her all his life and that it was not the first time he was bringing home a friend since he has a lot of friends.<\/p>\n
