Alicia Lestrade<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

While most students take their time off from school to party, relax or have a good time, this is not the case with Alicia Lestrade.<\/p>\n

Lestrade is a Dominican Music Education student at the Edna Manley School in Jamaica who is home for study break. Instead of enjoying her break from school the “traditional way” she has decided to take the time off to ‘give back’ to the land of her birth.<\/p>\n

For weeks now she has been conducting workshops in which she trains children to play musical instruments and improve their appreciation for music.<\/p>\n

Lestrade has also decided to stage a piano recital at the UWI School of Continuing Education on Friday because she thinks the public will enjoy hearing her play the pieces she has chosen as much as she enjoys playing them.<\/p>\n

“The last time Dominica had a recital was in 2007,” she stated. “And people who enjoy classical and contemporary piano are due for a new treat.”<\/p>\n

Dedicated, determined and disciplined Lestrade said she is always willing to give back to Dominica and is asking for public support.<\/p>\n
