This is indeed the belfry located in the Grand Bay Catholic Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>When the grandbay church was being constructed in the 1920\u2019s, a tower was built attached to the church.<\/p>\n<p>Then, it was realized that the sound of the bells did not travel very far so they demolished the tower and put it up on the hill so that the sound would cover the entire valley and up the hills to Tete Morne.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dominica News Online would like to thank all readers who participated in our latest Weekend Fun.
