Kitwanie Carbon at the symposium<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dominica\u2019s Junior Tourism Minister, Kitwanie Carbon has challenged the authorities to develop a tourism product based on health and wellness in Dominica.<\/p>\n

Carbon made her plea at a Health and Wellness symposium at the Garraway Hotel on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The symposium was organized by the 16-year-old in collaboration with the Discover Dominica Authority and was geared at giving youth and the general public a greater knowledge of the importance and benefit of health and wellness to the tourism industry.<\/p>\n

The event also targeted minimizing obesity and non-communicable diseases among youth.<\/p>\n

Minister of Tourism Ian Douglas, in addressing the participants congratulated Carbon for organizing the event and encouraged young people to take up the initiative in the tourism industry since it plays a pivotal role in the economy.<\/p>\n

He stated that the symposium was appropriate because of the world-wide “Go Green Campaign” and the aim to promote Dominica as an eco-friendly tourist destination.<\/p>\n

He urged Dominicans to incorporate healthy living into their everyday lifestyles and make it a way of life.<\/p>\n

Carbon also hosted a Youth City Clean- up Campaign earlier in 2012.
