Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South Constituency Ambrose George has promised a new “modern” primary school for Newtown.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted in the sense that we are going to receive a modern school,” George said during a recent visit to the proposed site of the new place of learning.<\/p>\n

The new institution is to be constructed through grant funds provided by the Chinese government.<\/p>\n

According to George the school will contain three levels. “The designs make provision for three levels: the ground level, a first floor and a second floor. The components of those floors will include science labs, cafeteria, an auditorium, office space for principal and vice principal, space for staff of the school, and approximately twelve classrooms,” George pointed out. “The school, when complete, will also have several amenities such as an art room and a computer room.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Newtown Primary School will also make provision for physically challenged children, according to George.<\/p>\n

He said the new school will also accomodate more students than the one that now exists. “I think there are over 200 students at the present school. The new school will make provisions for an increase in the number of students attending that school,\u201d George noted.<\/p>\n
