While the prosecution is not objecting to bail, the court was furnished with a \u2018default payment warrant\u201d in the amount of EC$9,460.00 in Pinard’s name and he must first clear that amount before he’s granted bail.<\/p>\n
In the mean time, Pinard remains on remand at the prison.<\/p>\n
Another man, Clinton Honore Austrie, who pleaded guilty to possession of 70 grams of cannabis also suffered the same fate as Pinard.<\/p>\n
Austrie, who was arrested by members of the \u201cTask Force\u2019 on September 13, 2012, told the court that the drugs were given to him by someone for a \u201cpardner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Magistrate Ossie Lewis clearly did not believe his story and asked him \u201cwhy do you have such a colourful record\u2026.?\u201d
\n\u201cYou are in the prime of your life\u2026.43 years and your record is just not flattering,\u201d Lewis told him.<\/p>\n
Despite expressing remorse for his action and pleading to the court for mercy, Austrie\u00a0 was fined EC$1,200.00 to be paid forthwith or in default 3 months in jail. However, he too had\u00a0 \u201cdefault payment warrant\u201d of EC$2,000.00 pending against him for failing to pay a fine for theft.<\/p>\n
Austrie was told that before he could be released he needed to clear the two thousand dollars plus the fine of $1,200.00.<\/p>\n
In another matter Churchhill Henderson was granted bail despite objections from the prosecution. The 24 year-old Kings Hill man who has a pending matter in court for grievous bodily harm dating back to June 2011, is charged with battery on a police woman, obstruction and assault on a female police officer.<\/p>\n
