Roseau, Dominica: August 27, 2012 —– The sixteenth edition of the Dominica World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled for October 26-28 at the Windsor Park Stadium will pay homage to cadence-lypso icon, the late Jeff Joseph. The festival which started in 1997 to provide a major cultural platform for Dominica\u2019s emerging tourism sector will be held under the theme: \u201cHomage to Jeff Jo\u2026Sweeter at 16.\u201d<\/p>\n
In honour of the famed cadence-lypso legend, the Dominica Festivals Committee, producers of the annual event, is working with a number of local and regional artistes to honour Jeff Jo for his sterling contribution to Dominica\u2019s music culture and for his many years of dedicated service to the island\u2019s cultural and artistic development. Several of the acts scheduled to perform on the festival stage are expected to incorporate Jeff Jo\u2019s music in their repertoire and add to the week-end long celebration honouring one of the region\u2019s premiere musical talents.<\/p>\n
Members of the original Grammacks, the band which would make Jeff Jo famous are also scheduled to perform on the final night of the festival as a mark of honour and respect to their fallen leader and musical icon.<\/p>\n
Telecommunications giant, Digicel- the Bigger, Better network – and the Government of Dominica will once again be the headline sponsors for the staging of the WCMF. After sixteen successive years, the WCMF has emerged as the most diverse and indigenous music festival in the Eastern Caribbean, featuring many of the top regional and local Creole musical acts as well as other forms of popular music from the Caribbean and Africa.
