Two more women have entered the calypso arena after receiving the nod from the judges at the 2013 calypso eliminations held at the Krazy Coconut on Saturday, Dec 22, 2012.<\/p>\n

Sherian Letang, wife of veteran calypsonian and performer, Daddy Chess, whose calypso name is Electra, \u00a0and Rachel Jno. Baptiste, who goes by the calypso moniker of Rachel, are among four newcomers in the twelve who have been chosen for the 2013 quarter final.<\/p>\n

While they maybe newcomers to calypso, both Electra and<\/p>\n

Rachel \u00a0have gained some recognition in the music business. Electra is the former lead vocalist of Fanatik band while Rachel is the 2012 Q Talent Search winner.<\/p>\n

The other newcomers are Kris B and Shadow Flow, aka, Skinny Bantan, who also has some experience as an entertainer.<\/p>\n

Making a successful comeback so far this year, is Kelly Williams (Ras Kelly), who is the President of the Dominica Calypso Association (DCA).<\/p>\n

Other calypsonians who have made it to the quarter final are Beno, Daddy Chess, Deros, Man Himself, Ghetto Prince, Trend Setter and Lady Star.<\/p>\n

The judges also selected three stand by calypsonians in the event that someone was to pull out of the quarter final.<\/p>\n

About 70 calypsonians participated in the competition on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The DCA-organized quarter final \u00a0is carded for early January 2013.<\/p>\n
