Six men who were facing conspiracy to import cocaine to Dominica have had the charges withdrawn by the Director of Public Prosecution.<\/p>\n

This, after attorney Wayne Norde, representing three of the men, revealed in court on Monday that the substance found when the men were arrested was tested in Barbados and the results showed that it was not cocaine.<\/p>\n

The men Jeremiah \u201cMiah\u201d Challenger of Bath Estate, Eustace Henry and Kenroy Paul of Glanvillia, Nigel Dublin of Stockfarm, Wendel Laurencine of St Lucia, and Omarie Mussington of St. Martin, were arrested on July 5, 2012 and\u00a0 charged for importing 30,000 grams of cocaine when they appeared in court the following day .<\/p>\n

At the time, the police said the illegal substance was worth $750,000.<\/p>\n

The men were granted bail.<\/p>\n

When three of the men, Paul, Henry and Laurencine appeared in court on Monday they were informed that the charges had been\u00a0 withdrawn but were told that they should return to court on Tuesday, January 15, since they could face new charges.<\/p>\n

The other three did not appear and the court was informed that Jeremiah and Dublin may not have been informed, while police believe that Mussington may have fled Dominica.<\/p>\n
