Venezuela’s acting president, Nicolas Maduro, has said Hugo Chavez’s body will be embalmed and put on permanent display in a glass coffin in the Museum of the Revolution in Caracas.<\/p>\n

This is being done, according to Maduro, so that “his people will always have him”.<\/p>\n

The acting president said the late leader’s body would be embalmed “like Lenin”, the Russian revolutionary leader, and put on display for at least another seven days before it is moved to the museum.<\/p>\n

A state funeral for Chavez to be attended by some 33 heads of government is scheduled to begin on Friday.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is expected to represent Dominica.<\/p>\n

Since his death, tens of thousands have file past the glass-top coffin the contained the body of Chavez, following a seven-hour procession on Tuesday, which took his body from the hospital where he died.<\/p>\n

General Jose Ornella said that Chavez died of a massive heart attack.<\/p>\n

On Thursday afternoon, in Dominica, a special memorial mass was held at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in honor of late Venezuelan leader.<\/p>\n

Chavez died on Tuesday afternoon after a nearly two-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the Dominica Freedom Party has said Chavez’s death will “undoubtedly create a void not only in Venezuela but also in Latin America, the Caribbean and the international community as a whole.”<\/p>\n

“Dominica has had a long and fruitful relationship with the Government and people of Venezuela spanning many years and we hope this relationship will continue for the mutual benefit and well being of the peoples of both countries,” the party said in a release on Thursday.<\/p>\n
