\nSymbol of a lie,
\nbut a must
\nif I were to walk
\nthe tightrope of modesty.<\/p>\n
Condemned by those
\nwho hadn\u2019t walked the path I had trod,
\nI maintained a fine balance of expectation,
\nshrouded in hidden passion.
\nVeiled threats of excommunication
\nhad become a burden of communion
\ntoo great for the saints.<\/p>\n
Shy brides!
\nWe dance
\nto covert tunes
\nof lies and dissimulation;
\neach bride a sepulchre,
\neach groom a failure.
\nWe bear children of perdition
\nwith no comfort for the nation.<\/p>\n
And so, lies become intertwined
\nwith the chalice of virginal blood,
\nshed in a desperate moment
\nof convoluted passion,
\nleading to this burgundy path,
\ndown the aisle
\nto a future of death,
\nas we sit and stare
\nat each other
