ST. THOMAS \u2014 Richie Fontaine, who was convicted March 15 by a V.I. Superior Court jury of robbing Edger Francis at gunpoint Aug. 14 then shooting him was sen\"\"<\/a>tenced Tuesday to serve 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n

Jurors took just about three hours \u2014 after listening to a day of testimony \u2014 to find Fontaine, 21, guilty of first-degree robbery, unauthorized use a firearm during the commission of a first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, unauthorized use of a firearm during the commission of a second-degree robbery, first-degree assault and unauthorized use of a firearm during the commission of a first-degree assault.<\/p>\n

At Tuesday\u2019s\u00a0 hearing, Assistant Attorney General Lofton Holder recommended that Fontaine be sentenced to 40 years in prison \u2014 20 years for the first-degree robbery, 15 years for the weapons convictions and 5 years for the first-degree assault .<\/p>\n
