First\u00a0 of all, just because you are the best batsman doesn&#8217;t mean you have to be the captain. There are born leaders and there are leaders. Chris Gayle\u00a0 is\u00a0 a great talent but lacks\u00a0 discipline as a leader. Then why aren&#8217;t the West Indies\u00a0 selectors taking charge?<\/p>\n<p>Why is the captain&#8217;s\u00a0 hair\u00a0 plaited when he is representing the West Indies? Victor Eddy was one of the best young\u00a0 players in the 70s and 80s, but because he\u00a0 had locks he was never considered\u00a0 a test\u00a0 prospect. You can never\u00a0 play baseball\u00a0 for the Yankees\u00a0 with\u00a0 long hair, ear rings or locks; discipline has to start at the top and don&#8217;t tell me this is not the USA; then why do cricketers like to\u00a0 imitate\u00a0 Americans? (IT&#8217;S ALL ABOUT THE GREEN, MONEY. THEY HAVE NO PRIDE ANYMORE).<\/p>\n<p>Gayle\u00a0 should\u00a0 think of\u00a0 batting at\u00a0 no. 3 or 4 so he\u00a0 can have\u00a0 a better look at how things\u00a0 are going when the West Indies are\u00a0 struggling. What is the sense of\u00a0 opening the\u00a0 batting and\u00a0 scoring\u00a0 30 runs in three overs and getting out then start\u00a0 criticizing\u00a0 the other players? The selectors\u00a0 must\u00a0 give the captaincy\u00a0 to Sammy or Bravo, then Gayle might become a better batsman, and this might help West Indies cricket.<\/p>\n<p>The ICC should also take a good look at\u00a0 test cricket. Why\u00a0 are countries\u00a0 like Bangladesh playing test cricket? In the 1970s, 80s and 90s, any second 11 team\u00a0 the\u00a0 West Indies selected could\u00a0 wipe out the field with Bangladesh; now they beat the West Indies for their first\u00a0 Tst\u00a0 series win.(what a shame)<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe\u00a0 just beat India\u00a0 a few\u00a0 hours ago. They are not a more talented\u00a0 team than the\u00a0 West Indies, but they are\u00a0 more disciplined than the\u00a0 West\u00a0 Indies team. The\u00a0 problem\u00a0 starts with the\u00a0 biased\u00a0 selectors\u00a0 who are not\u00a0 selecting\u00a0 players from the\u00a0 small islands\u00a0 with\u00a0\u00a0 talent. Take a look at this young\u00a0 player\u00a0 from\u00a0 Anguilla, Chesney Hughes,\u00a0 who is playing in England\u00a0 for\u00a0 Derbyshire against\u00a0 Gloucestershire. In the first inning\u00a0 he scored 118, in the second\u00a0 he came on when his\u00a0 team was in trouble (down four wickets for fifteen)\u00a0 and he scored 75 out of a score of 166.<\/p>\n<p>These are the kinds of\u00a0 batsmen that West\u00a0 Indies\u00a0 cricket needs &#8211; batsmen with discipline, patient, etc. The selectors should select this young\u00a0 player before\u00a0 it&#8217;s too late, and don&#8217;t say he has no\u00a0 experience.
