Who has these Ambitions?
Who said “I will be there in 2050”???
Can we be be civil and respectful of each others opinion? Why all these personal
bashing? Everyone has a right to their opinion. some of these comments are so
personal and disrespectful. I do not think that the bloggers know each other.
I read the word stupid so many times . so because we do not share the same opinion
that makes on stupid?. Wespay! is important man !. let us agree to disagree
I am jus saying
Dominica’s State House needs repairing, all oter islands are Renovating theirs Is this the honor you give to your President? You do as though, Dominica is the only island who is borrowing monies from international donors nd we still praise them
Are you even aware of the details re the state house. You certainly sound like you are ignorant of the facts. Get the facts before you speak
Even better still, eliminate the position of the president. The little duties that he has can be done by someone else. That man too vain. After spending all that money to renovate and beautify the President’t office with bed and other unnecessities, his little time in the State house has him aviege. HOw many houses does he own? Everyone that is chosen to be president in Dominica already has at least a house. But that little man there thinks he will never be replaced.
sad too see much Dominicans not even speaking on about whats going on labour party made the country a slave to china how can we ever pay back the loan ???? and look beyond the picture painted skerrit wants a state house cause he knows that when his reign is done he will be the next president so his house wil lbe waiting there for him his planning for his future and not for ours BE WISE REALIZE LABOUR PARTY IS JUST LIES
In search of aid and grants make us beggars. Loans make us slaves. Doing nothing makes us lazy and under-developed. What should we do?Many people comment like the 27 million is all we have., Not too long ago, the govt. submitted a $400 million budget. There were both recurring expenditures. Should we take the loan to build dozens of little vendor stalls in Roseau? Are these the criteria you use to compare Dominica to St. Lucia and the rest of the O.E.C.S or is it in comparism to their highways, massive structures, economic activity, level of employment and human development in general? Who will buy from the vendors if there are no jobs?
My reservation about the presidential residence/ office complex is that it should be split into two seperate entities. I even suggested building the office complex in Portsmouth and a brand new and much cheaper residence for the president in Roseau. Make it big and nice; but 27 million? Eh, eh!! A 50 room hotel costs 23 million and the President does not need 50 rooms. But build the damn residence without the offices. The privacy of the President will be compromised crossing paths with workers every day. Or will it be so massive that the west wing will be isolated from the east wing?
Omission: Line #3 should read:
” There were both capital investments and recurring expenditures”.
How much of that $400 million was put into the productive sectors like agriculture, tourism and manufacturing/processing? Is the presidents palace going to generate any income for the country? While I don’t think vending stalls is something to undertake as a developmental approach, it will surely create more revenue and feed more families than the state house. Shouldn’t the productive sector be of greater priority than this project? Look at the stadium which cost $34 million, dont you think for its purpose it should generate more revenue than a palace can generate? How much revenue has it brought since 2007?
THANKGOD FOR PEOPLELIKEYOU THANKS ALOT GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT QUESTIONS DONT WORRY WITH THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THEY ARE JUST IGNORANT
GREAT QUESTIONS GREATLY STATED THANK YOU WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN D/ACAUSE WHAT LABOUR PARTY DOING IS NOT FAIR TO US DOMINICANS AND THESE THINGS NEED TO STOP AM PRAYING FOR THEM TO
dominicans it is not about party.it is about dominica.opposition believe there only responsibality is to .oppose. the government of day was elected yes,but come on .the supporters of the ruling party believes that the government can do any thing and no one can ask any question ..the question that were asked were very relivant. .the government must beheld accountable to the people .they are the servant of the people not the people the servant.
tell tim tim to take some of the money repair the entrance of fond cole road, and bild roads so the poore farmers can make a better living, build a factry. so the farmers will be able to sell produce to thet factry and goods can go out on the shelves at the supermarket, and ship to other country it is time we stop sending all our moneys out of dominica and send back empty containers 100s of them those ministers have no shame all they are doing is reaping off the poore countyr, but very soon god will deliver us from them.
Thank God there are still some people with some sense on this island. common sense …does not seem to be to common around these parts.
Jobs?, this goverment have no idea how to create jobs and this stae house will surely not do so, because workers will come form China. Come on people let common sense take speak, why do we need a new state house? repair the bloody state house.
If I was the minister, I wouldn’t answer you either. You asking too many darm questions at one time. It seems like you have a question factory? You should just ask four or five questions and then the others later. The minister busy doing other work for the country and so on, and he doe have time for all these questions.
ur sooooooooooooo fooolish these questions need to be answered
Ok
Here is the minister’s number – 1-800-NOT-YOUR-DARM-BUSINESS…A little long but it working. Call him your darm self and ask him those questions, and write down his answers, then post them here for us. I waiting.
On a serious note, I do believe the questions should be answered but the writer is injecting too much political emotion into his/her request. If you want the minister to take you seriously, be reasonable; ask a few questions that might solicit a response as opposed to asking for a report on the government’s activities over the past several years. Just a thought.
1. What is the multiplier effect to the Dominican economy?
2. Is the interest on a reducing balance?
3. Is there a grace period prior to loan installments?
4. What are the installments?
5. What are the projected revenue generators to pay these installments?
6. How many jobs will be created by this project?
These are very good questions which would be important in determining if the project is viable. And it shows a high level of intelligence on your part. None of this information was presented by Mr brisbane in his press conference. So based on the lack of that information do you think it was prudent to conclude that the project should be stopped.
7. Is this a revenue generator or a liability to the tax payers? If so please explain.
8. What Is the net trade balance between Dominica and China?
9. Is the current Dominican population able to pay this loan or are we expecting an influx of other persons that will be given Dominican passports and be generating greater tax revenues to enable these payments?
10. What is the MOU between China and Dominica?
11. Having seen you attending Church, Does not the bible say: “the Borrower is slave to the lender”
None of these questions have anything to do with constructing the state house or not. Take for instance #7, someone can take a loan which is a liability and put it into an investment which could be an income generator. So i do not understand the logic. The last question is just being childish, i must assume that you never took a loan or when you took loans from banks you were a slave to them. Lol , Childish
How will the state house generate any income, what investment is the state house? Stupes
Hmm,
I thought you were going somewhere because of the angle you took in your first response, but you questioned the person on the relevance of the #7 question and then tried to school him/her.
When you take a loan, partner, especially of such substantial amount, knowing that the loan will be approved does not mean you have to take it because of some of the regrettable repercussions. A law student takes a $300, 000.00 school loan because a lawyer makes an average of about…enough to cover his/her loan installment and enough to provide for a comfortable living. The same angle the government should take when deciding whether or not to accept a loan on behalf of our children. You don’t even see the importance of a net trade balance, especially when it’s been compounded but you have the audacity to call people childish.
Be cool man.
lol
to …..
If by constructing the state house with a conference room, Dominica then gets to host additional oecs, caricom and other official meetings, some persons would have to rent hotel room, take taxies eat food ect., which would bring income into the country. Then the construction of the state house generated income for Dominica and would be a good investment
If by housing the different commissions in the state house the gov’t saves some money which can be use to other project, isn’t that an investment?
how many conferences will be held on a yearly bases to justify the expenditure. not only so most of these conferences are at a cost to the host nation. They hardly bring in that much income compared to the cost.
OECS conferences are not held in one country. These are things which rotate so you have no point there. The various commissions you speak of where are these currently housed? If they are housed at private properties then yes that may be be the only point you have if not then?
Using the $27 million for these other projects makes more sense than a suggestion of using possible rental savings for projects
I sthe state house an income generator? What is your logic?
You will not get an answer, not because he does’nt know, but he dare’nt tell the truth, but am glad people like you are asking and keep asking, because a wall is a wall, it can be broken down.
Again, you can run for office of the prime minister. And hope you can do a better job. All this braying and no action.
So we vote people into office to look after our interest but should ask no questions??? i supported the labour party but i dont think the state house should be priority and i think most Dominicans know that but refuse to be objective.
I like the idea of the new hospital and would be much happier if this project was the one being started!!!
Ha ha ha. So many smart people, yet the country is so backward. It’s best of some of you just stopped talking and get some work done.
Better yet run for office of the prime minister
My dear concern Dominican,
I’m sorry to inform you that it is none of your damn business where we get our loan,
what we do with our loan, how we repay our loan.We will do what we want. Go to Hell ..Go To Hell.
I’m talking on behalf of the slave master and his driver Tim Tim..
Speak for yourself negr maron, if you want to remain ignorant do so at your expense, not mine. The world could do without some of you..
It is every bit of my business where the government takes any loan, as I am a tax payer. You on teh other hand must be one of those living on hand outs, not working and contributing to the poor state of this economy. Get of your lazy a$$ an then talk about it not being your business. jerk!!!! Just shut your pie hole. I totally agree with the COncerned Dominican. You on teh othe rhand…. well, there are a few placed I’d liek to put your kind…
