Dominica independent for me to celebrate our independence boy? We gained our independence from Britain in 1978, and we behaved and celebrated independence from Britain from 1978 to 2004, when Pierre Charles died. But from the time Skerrit became Prime minister in 2004, he put us under more bondage than when we were under Britain. For exa, 1. When we were under Britain I cannot remember any government entity carried the name great Britain, UK or England. Yet although Skerrit has not officially declared us as a colony of Communist, yet our main hospital carries the name of China. 2. I can’t remember England ever builder a British Embassy in Dominica; yet China’s biggest Embassy in the Caribbean is next to Skerrit’s mansion. 3.Under Britain we cultivated and shipped our bananas and other crops to England on a weekly basis and as a result, our parents were able to feed, clothes and educate us. Under China is our jobs they taking and enjoying our fish for Free. What he’ll independence?

Sometimes it feels like Dcans abroad are more patriotic than those at home. Last weekend the Dominica Houston Association put on a fantastic virtual pre-independence celebration. Now I see Tampa is about to follow suit. It really warmed my heart when I saw how the people in Houston, Texas collaborated with one of my favorite artists CarlypXP and rocked the boat. Lol I actually thought CarlynXP was in Texas until someone reminded me that it’s all virtual so she is right here in Dca    . That was truly a great virtual event . I look forward to celebrating with Tampa likewise.

Is Dominica truly an independent country or are we just forming the fool celebrating a mirage?

Is Dominica truly independent when the ideology of ‘Foreigners First, Dominicans One-After-Last in their own country’ seems to be foremost in the minds of those who occupy the seat of power in Dominica?
