i remember calling it zapricot but that might be me. If you want to know the correct english name for the fruit then it is the mammey apple. I think the history behind us calling it zapricot or appricot stems from the french who characterized the fleshy inside to resemble the apricot. We being so influenced by the french have continued calling it zabwiko and perhaps forget that its english name is mammey apple. That is what you will see it referred to as in the other english speaking islands.

Boy that Zabwiko would make a very good smoothie. All natural, pesticide free, preservative free ,organic nutritious and satisfying.
If you prefer my brother/ sister you can juice it up or even slice it up and serve it. Did you know it grows naturally in the Nature Isle? Which of the imported fruits that you purchase at the grocery can boast of all the above mentioned qualities? Eat local. Keep Dominica CLEAN and GREEN.
