Verdant forests and wild sweet cherries
Joyful laughter and smiling faces
Fresh air and warm sweet breeze
Relaxing beaches and enchanting trails
I offer all to you.
Angelic cries of newborn babes
Youthful voices of choirs singing
Seniors, their folk tales tell
Night and day all embracing
I offer all to you
The sound of the shell, the beat of the drum
The school bells sounding the start of class
The crapaud’s call, the sisserou song
The raindrops falling on the grass
I offer all to you.
Creole dances, Zook and Bouyon
Hot mastiff and orange butter
Pelau and sancoche all year through
Crab callalou from start November
I offer all to you
Behold me, be me, treat me right
I make you who you are
From me, within me, you were formed
Now stand for me and by me
I am Dominica, Are you?
Behold me, be me, treat me right…
LOVELY, INDEED…
I AM DOMINICA!!!!
I got a bit misty eyed reading this. I’m so home sick. Great poetry!!!
GOOD WORK! I WOULD CONTINUE TO WORK ON PERFECTING IT; MAYBE ADDING A FEW ETRA VERSES…DOMINICA HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER…SO MAJECTIC…SO BEAUTIFUL… SO ENCHANTING….
HAVING SAID THAT…GREAT WORK…BLESSINGS!!!
Interesting Poem but… (1) “The school bells sounding the start of class”…DELETE
(2) Pelau and sanchoche all year ’round’ rhymes better.
(3) Craab callalou from October start instead of “start November”
(4) I am worthy instead of “treat me right”
(5) Hot mastiff “with” orange butter instead
(6) “From me, within me, you were formed”….”you were formed” could be instead
you came to be
Now stand for me and with me…I AM DOMINICA, ARE YOU.
NICE
THAT’S THE PERSON POEM, SUBMIT UR OWN THEN!!! STUUUUUUUPES
I love it! from one poet to another
