The Dominica Red Cross is appealing for cash donations to assist the victims of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti.
Thousands are without food, clothing and shelter following the magnitude 7.0 earthquake.
“As far as the Red Cross International is concerned, there is already a lot of assistance on the ground with further assistance being sent in. As far as the Caribbean National societies are concerned, we are appealing for cash donations at this time because of the distance from Haiti,” noted Director General of the Dominica Red Cross, Kathleen Pinard Byrne.
She said logistically getting water, clothes and other items at this time is going to be very expensive and problematic.
“What we are appealing for is cash for the victims that can be used to provide all the necessary humanitarian assistance that is needed for now and in the coming months,” she said.
