OECS Commission mobilizing support to ease Dominica’s crisis

IMG-20150827-WA0029The OECS Commission is engaging with regional and international agencies to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the effects of tropical storm Erika on Dominica.

According to a statement issued, the Directorate of the OECS Commission is concerned about the situation in Dominica and is communicating with Heads of Government of other OECS Member States, the international donor community and organisations to ensure the best possible actions.

“As small island states we have common vulnerabilities to climatic issues and weather systems which impact on all our Member States and although limited in our own resources we are strengthening our response to Dominica through dialogue towards a coordinated response from agencies such as National Emergency Management Organisations, UNDP, CEDEMA, ECLAC and USAID,” the release stated.

The OECS Commission will continue to update the public on plans for this coordinated response to Dominica’s needs.

To the residents of Dominica, I send my heartfelt condolences and encouragement. Please take comfort in the Word of God that He will never leave or forsake you. God is in the midst of your pain and loss, but through every adversity, there will be restoration and revival. Hold on to God and trust Him. I am a resident of Georgia in the United States and have been blessed to fellowship with Christians from Dominica. My prayers will continue for those in Dominica and those family members in the United States. Be strong, giving up is not an option, because God is with you. I will do whatever I can to give you the support needed for Dominica’s restoration, survival and revival. To God be the Glory!
