The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has allocated about EC$500,000 (130,000 Euro) to assist Dominica’s agriculture sector.
The support falls under the FAO’s Special Framework of Assistance SFA 2007/2008 to Dominica.
An agriculture monitoring system is among programs to be implemented as part of the assistance, said Florita Kentish, FAO’s Sub Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean.
Speaking at a conference on Monday, Minister for Agriculture Matthew Walter said the system will help strengthen the island’s agricultural information management system which provides data for review of the agriculture sector.
Kentish said the monitoring system will deal with “the collection of data on the status of agriculture within the country.”
