Dominica continues to assist its St. Lucian neighbors through the supply of clean drinking water through the efforts of government and corporations.
Digicel’s Country Manager for Dominica Richard Stanton said yesterday that his company has also answered the call to providing the most important form of aid presently required – the supply of clean drinking water.
“I’d like to commend the team in my office for the efforts they have made to support our colleagues in St. Lucia,” Stanton said.
He said that with the assistance of whale-watching boats Digicel has been shipping water from Dominica to its hurricane-devastated neighbor.
The water, he says, goes to both company employees and the people in remote areas of the island.
Yesterday, the government of Dominica was expected to ship at least two more 40-foot containers of fresh water to the island.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit had announced Dominica’s contributions, noting that Dominica has the ability to deliver millions of gallons of drinking water daily to the island.
“It could happen to any one in the region,” Skerrit said.

Listen to the news for you to know about the water being collected by DEXIA. The water is in the process of being shipped. Before the week is over the water WILL BE IN ST. LUCIA. OK
What about the water that is being collected at DEXIA, when is it going to be shipped?
Well done DG and The Government.I have not heard anything about those stories on Matt and Jerry.I suppose that is too much good news to tell the world about.I really feel sorry for those haters of not only the Governmaent and Skerrit but haters of DA.They need to take an urgent purge of the bitterness ,grudge and hate that they have in their heart.
Great. Good to know there are things happening in Dominica other than who owns villas, who is “clearing” their name when they were not even accused of anything, and how Dominica is not going anywhere, and all the other things the talking heads relish in discussing.
I fell in love with St. Lucia on my first visit there. When I saw clips of the devastation caused by Hurricane Tomas I could not stop crying. I feel so proud that Dominica wasted no time in providing much needed assistance to St. Lucia. I also commend Digicel for taking the initiative to do the same. I hope that other organizations will do their part in providing supplies to St. Lucia as they have done for other countries which experience devastation from natural disasters. My thanks and my gratitude goes out to Digicel and the Government of Dominica.
Thats what Caribbean Integration is all about, meeting the needs of our neighbours. I don’t really believe in CARICOM, but more so in OECS, or even in Windward Islands integration. We have to unite to face the challenges of world economics, globalization. Somos un pueblo, tenemos que luchar junto para enfrentar los desafios mundiales.
