The Northern District Home for the Aged was placed in a better position to handle its affairs, after a donation of EC$1000 on Thursday.
The First Caribbean International Bank, presented the cheque to Augustus St. Jean, chairman of the Northern District Home for the Aged based in Grange, Portsmouth.
“I want to say thanks for that timely contribution that will help to cushion the effects of the economic stress that we are facing. It’s little, but it’s plenty,” St. Jean said while expressing gratitude for the contribution.
The Northern District Home for the Aged started operations in 1980, as a shelter for those left without homes following the passage of hurricane David in Dominica, in 1979. Nine people are presently housed in the establishment.
