Dominica Freedom Party condemns Pagua Guest House attack

Judith Pestaina, Political Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party

The Dominica Freedom Party condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on Rick and Alicia Davison, owners of the Pagua Guest House on the evening of Sunday, July 31, 2011 which resulted in the murder of Joe Costello, Manager of the Silks Hotel in Hatton Garden.

This vicious attack against persons who are contributing towards tourism development in Dominica was unwarranted and can only damage our fragile tourism industry and undermine investor confidence.

The Dominica Freedom Party calls for all efforts to be made to apprehend the perpetrators as quickly as possible and to bring them to justice. The Party expects that the full brunt of the law will be brought to bear on the perpetrators.

The Dominica Freedom Party further calls on the Government of Dominica, law enforcement agencies, the Opposition Parties, the churches, the National Youth Council, NGOs and all Citizens to work together towards eradicating such acts of violence from our country.

The Dominica Freedom Party extends sympathies to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased, Joe Costello, as well as wishes to Rick and Alicia Davison for their speedy recovery.

What is silly about her remarks? She is just a person extending her condolence and condeming violence in Dominica. Should she just sit down and say nothing? Regardless of her political affiliation, a serious crime took place in her country and she has a moral responsibility to address it. This is not a time for petty political retorics.
How would you feel if the victim was your brother? Would you like her to sit and say nothing? Get a life, and put politics in such a time as this!!!!

Thank you Mrs. Pestina. I encourage you and The DFP to continue to play your part and keep the DFP in the lime-light. With much persuasion and determination + $$$$ the DFP will be a potent force again in Da.
But please get your money the right way, Do not sell-out!!

Thank you Ms. Pestina for coming out and represent the Dominica Freedom Party, to denounced this horrible criminal act.It is true citizens like yourself who can proudly hold you all heads up high in a time when there are so many questionable politicians in Da.Keep up the good work ,even in a time when there seem to be little support for your cause.

I do hope that the police will seek all avenues to solve this crime.

there is no condeming her,, sherrit saying this is a rear situation it is not,, this is just the first time someone got killed,, they have been attacking tourist in dominica all the time and robbing them and nothing has been done.. skerrit should stop putting so much effort with the police into drugs and concentrate on the robberies going on in dominica and how its affecting our tourist industry!!

To be fair and just, I would not criticize her. She is within her rights and has done what she is supposed to do as a member of the opposition.
Many people wrote when the article was first posted with the picture of the deceased and other articles which is the reason why few people are commenting on this article. I see nothing wrong with that. There is not much more they can say at this time except to repeat themselves.

Why is that comment necessary? If she did not condemn the attack and murder you would probably be one of those to criticize her.

The same way he can pull a crowd, is so he will PULL DOWN the crowd. Why did it take him so long to make his comment? He is the leader of the country, he should be the first to condemn such a horrific crime.
