What yet another person killed. My brother was murdered three years and three months ago and the murderer is still out on bail enjoying life with his family and friends.
No justice in Dominica that is the reason people are killing each other as they know they will get away with their evil doings.

There is freedom of speech all over the world except in Dominica, you speak, I do not like what is said so I will kill you as I am sure I will get away with it that is the message.
It is us the family left to suffer as there is no respect for life and no justice in DOMINICA.
Please do something. It is too late for my beloved brother but please I am pleading STOP this way of life.
Myself and my family are suffering daily and would not like this for any one.

Skerrit started it by breaking the law so others following his bad example. The bad thing is he has the police to protect him on one side while DNO protects him from being exposed and criticized by us. But as goes the head so goes the body and as goes the leader so goes the citizenry. No law can stop you so others feel the laws are not important. Trump may have broken the law to get elected but see how vigorously the media and judiciary are working to ensure it is investigated so that others learn. In Dominica it is the media and judiciary that protecting Skerrit so everyone thinks breaking the law is alright

We do not need to stop, if the leader of a country is lawless and don’t care so will the people. seems like the police is there to protect Skerrit and all his rogue followers and the poor people are left to fend for themselves. Justice and law are down the river.

  10. No law, no Constitution
    March 11, 2018

Dominicans must have taken the “no law no Constitution utterance of Skerrit as their inspiration to take the law into their hands man? But they must understand though our laws don’t apply to Skerrit because he is above the law, such is not the case with others and they will pay for their crime, if they are not connected to the true

How many homicides in Dominicasofar this year, does anyone know. And we have not even finished three months yet. This does not help to bring Ross back, does it. God have mercy

    • Malatete
      March 12, 2018

So far this year there are 3 reported homicides in Dominica over a period of 69 days (1 Jan. – 10 March):
      – 1 Jan, Portsmouth, 1 male
      – 4 .March, Salisbury, 1 male
      – 10 March, Good Hope, 1 male
In addition there were 7 non-fatal shootings over the same period:
      – 3 Feb., St. Joseph, 1 male
      -13 Feb., Wesley, 4 males
-15 Feb., Gutter Village, 2 males.
The homicide for a country is calculated as 1 per 100,000 population. With an optimistic figure of 70,000* population the projected homicide rate for Dominica for 2018 would be 22.67 if the current trend continues.
The last recorded rate (UN ODC) for our country (2011) was 8.4. There are other countries in the region that show, more recent (2015), higher rates such as T&T at 30.88 and Barbados at 10.91. This compares with European countries like Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland for example that show homicide figures below 1.0 for the same year 2015.

      * An actual lower population would increase our homicide figure.

I must laugh: ross is not coming back and they have been contemplating the exit strategy since after erica when they noticed the government is doing nothing to improve infrastructure to create safe conditions for students and staff.
Dominicans have not had enough yet! You will know when they reach that point when you see a nationwide revolt against this crooked government. But how much more can the country take before something is done?

Dominica with a small population of about 60,000 has many murders. We lived in a US town of 30,000 and there was one murder in 60 years. And that was by a mentally ill man. Dominica is violent.

      March 11, 2018

No, it’s not violent. Dominica has gone through a “storm,” also a whole lot right now… and heading for change which will be for the better in the near future. The residents of the entire US could never go through what Dominica has gone through since Tropical Storm Erica and Hurricane Maria and survive this long without destroying each other. You are a White man from the US comparing that evil crime-ridden country (Babylon) to Dominica? You have got to be kidding me!! I AM an American Citizen and I would never like to get caught in America in a natural or un-natural disaster because the amount of murders that would take place would be unimaginable. Dan Tanner, you are comparing the same country that has had its hand all over the world in EVIL, MASS murders, Genocide, has invaded at least 70 countries since 1776, conducts evil medical experiments on its own citizens, and diligently working on the KING ALFRED PLAN to EXTERMINATE “Black” people. Mind your own damn US…

  21. It's my damn business
    March 10, 2018

Another murder? What else to say except that the no law no Constitution of Skerrit’ is really taking roots in Dominica. He told us he was going to prove that we had no law or Constitution that could stop hi him from doing what he wanted and the man was damn right, because no law could stop him and ever since no law ever questioned him about breaking the law. As a result Dominicans are now convinced that we are a country of no law and anytime there is an argument people tend to take the law in to their hands. It is a painful truth but that’s the example our prime minister set with his own words, before he broke the law with his actions and it was those that should have proved him wrong that helped made him right. So now the bug is affecting us as the reality hits us every blessed week.

Human life in these times is no longer regarded as being sacred. Just a simple disagreement or an innocuous argument with someone can cost you your life. Too many hearts are deprived of love, kindness, compassion and empathy. We need more nurturing homes, more loving and caring communities, pastors that would shout less and do more, leaders that would unite the people and not divide. We need to act much more humanely in our daily interactions with one another. Let peace and love abide more abundantly in our hearts.

These are warning signs. The level of frustration in the country is a super ellivated levels. Government must move quickly to heal the wounds and avoid doing things with will stir up anxiety and anger. Great times to prove your worth as leaders. I talk to my people back home daily and the word frustrated feature high. A person who feels they have nothing to loose will not hesitate to commit a crime.

Too much frustration in the land..unemployment, underemployment, no industries, damaged lives, insurance not paying on time, raisin running out, money not circulating, not skill training in productive sectors, foreigners getting all the work, should I continue? Now put your boots on and go spread the work. Its time for change.

As a starter, may I suggest that we place greater emphasis on creativity, especially in our schools.

Creativity and destruction are poles apart. One thrives on love, the other on hate. A creative person is not a destructive person.

      • Roger Burnett
        March 12, 2018

But Titiwi my dear friend, creativity is not limited to painting. And most painters, Hitler included, are not creative in the true sense of the word. They are merely copiers. The carpenter and gardener come closer to the mark.

    March 10, 2018

When Skerrit went to the UN after Maria the first statement he made referring to Dominica and the deduction was: ” The garden of Eden is destroyed.” He was right because as soon as Adam disobeyed God and allowed the serpent to come in, that opened the doors for curse to come on the land to the point that the first murder took place when Cain killed his brother Abel. Similarly the moment Skerrit publicly violated our laws and Constitution our garden of Eden, Dominica became a different place as all we hear of on a weekly basis is one act of curse after another. So yes PM, Eden is destroyed but sadly, just as Adam opened the gates of curses so to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit invited and brought in curses upon the land and so far, his 14 years as pm have been marked as 14 years of turmoil and curses. That’s why the sooner we get rid of him the better for Dominica. I am tired of saying accept my sympathy and this time I speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth

When I am telling people about my country and mentioned the population, they usually asked is this a small city? It’s difficult for them to understand a country with 70000 people.Yet so many killings.
You may judged me like a crack record, but I am telling you the truth. If a person have experienced God’ forgiveness,he will run away from trouble.

You ever hear about the inquisition and the crusades JJ. I’m just saying. Many killings, persecution and injustice happen in the name of religion.
