More charges in Colombian national case

Issa Alleyne

Police have confirmed that Issa Alleyne is to be brought before a Roseau Magistrate on Thursday July 11, 2013 on a  charge of attempted murder of a Colombian national.

Alexander Joseph of Gutter Village, Kester Cyprien and Imran Bruney of Bath Estate are also facing the same charge.

Ron Jolly was charged with attempted murder of the same Colombian last week.

In total five men will be charged with attempted murder of Jesus Para.

The men and two women were due in court on July 9 after they were denied bail and remanded in custody last week, but the case was adjourned due to inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Chantal.

The incident involving Para occurred on July 1, 2013 in Copthall. It is alleged that all eight robbed him and a companion, Ceasar Serna, of EC$3,000 and a BlackBerry Bold phone.

Serna managed to escape but Para had to be rescued in a 200ft precipice. He sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was later released, according to the police.

In 2008 Alleyne was acquitted by a nine-member jury on a charge of murder.

He was arrested and charged for the murder of Wayne Dyrample who was stabbed to death on Carnival Tuesday in 2006.

Issa will end up doing what he does best to his family and then there will be no one to be his lawyer. His family is glancing over their shoulder and is having sleepless night. They are aging fast and loosing because they cannot eat.
Their conscience is eating at them wandering is today my turn.

Lets not rejoice over issa, i strongly believe he was guilty in 2009 but the juridistic system needs a revision, if it was in the US issa would not go free.we make children and cant direct their life. we leaving our life in dominica like GOD did us harm, no respect for spiritual leaving, sin is rampant, wrong is right and right is wrong and we take those things lightly. I highly doubt that Ms. Dalrymple is rejoicing. If anything her heart must be aching again as she has to relive all over the pain of losing her son. It’s like taking a scab off a healing wound. Even if this young man ends up behind bars she still did not get the justice that she seeks. Justice for the murder of “HER” son. Mama ki ti ni zanfants weydey lazot mama pwedey.

I really do feel for Mrs Dalrmple and her family…why should she rejoice…….her sons killer is still on the loose….it was proven in court…the so called video evidence proved Issa was not the one….why would you want someone who did not commit the crime to pay for it? She should be praying that the real killer is caught….none of you were in the courts during this case but speak like you know what happened..he was not set free on a technicality ….please speak from a position of fact…

      • Hurting Dominican so
        July 12, 2013

Thank you!! Issa is not a killer. Issa is a young man who was raised in a family full of love for all which will stand with him and support him because he has made mistakes. Many of us have. Many of us learn the hard way sometimes from the mistakes that we have made. But Issa in my mind, got caught up in a situation in the first incident, over which he had no control. It culminated in this fight in which unfortunately someone lost his life. That fact that Issa was caught up in this in defense of his person DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. There were more than two persons involved here. There were two groups of young men who each ‘defended’ their friends from the other and they clashed in the middle of a crowd. It is sad that this man lost his life and I extend my condolences to his family. But I am sure that in hindsight, many involved in this incident would have done things differently if they could reverse the events of that day, including the victim himself. So let us reflect on this sad saga and learn from its lessons rather than hating him who was caught up in this fight and may very well have been the person who was meant to be the victim in this sad situation. Remember that in the middle of this crowd, with the numbers involved, anyone could have been wielding that knife. Those of you who judge and accuse, WHAT IF YOU ARE WRONG??? Would that be doing justice to the victim or is it simply convenient for the person who actually perpetrated this terrible crime?? Let our young people learn from this and understand that when you hate and hold bad intentions, that these things can bring you to take actions which you may later regret, actions which can sometimes cause the death of those whom you never intended to hurt. Let us have an open mind and stop hating simply because someone happens to hold a surname or happens to be entangled in circumstances for which we do not hold all the facts.

Regards this incident, let us not rush to judgement as we have in the past people. There are persons here who have to take responsibility for their actions but yet again, we are called to be fair and honest and let the legal process take its course. The legal process, if handled properly, will bring forth the truth. Let us allow them to do their work and those who have to answer will do just that. I pray for peace and love in my homeland and call on those in authority to lead by example!! God bless Dominica………peace and love

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone…. Issa was charged with the murder of Wayne and like all accused he went through the legal system and was acquitted…. Not because his family has name cause last I check 3 years in prison not a walk inthe park… Maybe we need an overhaul of the justice system cause Issa has not been the only accused to be set free so stop wash allu tongue on him…. Maybe he does need help, maybe we should all pray for him…. But last I check he was not found guilty of any crime his police record does not say that he is a convicted murderer…. Wait before y’all quick to cast judgment….

        July 11, 2013

you are absolutely wrong….the prosecution prevented it…because it did not support their case as they had thought all along…and made the public believe….dont take my word for it…go to the courts and find out….it is public records now…
ask yourself a question….how could a murder be caught on tape and the person not be shown guilty by a full jury…why didn’t the lawyers appeal the case on those grounds?…..clearly you have no idea about what u speak of…..

Hmmmmm, I bet if a survey was done of 1000 of those who are one hundred percent behind the accusation that Issa did this and that, and you were all asked, have you seen the video, 99.9% of you, if answering honestly, would say no, I have not!!! Then who gives you the right to hold him accountable for a crime on the basis of a video which you have not seen??? You are then just a tool being used by someone who is intent on spreading propaganda and you are just going with the flow to the detriment of someone else. My goodness, learn people!! July 10, 2013

Issa is a troubled young man. He has been for a while now. You would think that he would try his utmost best to stay out of trouble after the ordeal he went through between 2006 and 2009, but it seems incarceration doesn’t scare him. I don’t know if he should be locked up, because I don’t know the details of what transpired, but he definitely needs help. If his family and friends are paying attention, they too will agree and get him the help he needs before it’s too late. Such a shame to watch young and intelligent young men head down destructive paths while everyone is looking on, rather than try to stop them.
